On Monday, September 19th, more than seventy workers at Old Fashioned Kitchen in Lakewood, New Jersey ratified a new union contract!
The three-year agreement solidified many improvements for our members. First, all members will receive across-the-board wage increases in addition to yearly raises. On top of that, second- and third-shift differentials have doubled to further compensate workers on less desirable shifts. The agreement also solidified classifications and a new “Group Leader” classification; that carries a premium of an additional $2.50 per hour above their rate! In addition to these monetary improvements, everyone in the bargaining unit will receive a ratification bonus. Finally, the contract maintained our members’ affordable healthcare and substantially increased the Employer-sponsored pension contributions.
Congratulations to our members and the Negotiating Committee! This included Director of Collective Bargaining Daniel Ross, Assistant Director of Collective Bargaining Lisa Sanders, Union Representative Jose Echevarria, Shop Steward Orlando Figueroa, and members Jose Diaz and Tinuben Patel.
