Free College Benefit

Perhaps the most amazing benefit, UFCW has teamed up with a public, open-access community college in Steubenville, Ohio called Eastern Gateway Community College to offer a Free College Benefit. Yes, you read that correctly: free college!

This benefit is open to all UFCW members who are paying dues and in good standing, retired members, and their families. Learn more.

Books for school

Free GED Preparation Classes

As a UFCW member, you have the opportunity to take completely free General Educational Development (GED) preparation classes to help prepare you for the real GED test. UFCW recently partnered with Essential GED to allow this amazing benefit at no cost to our members!

These classes are completely self-guided, allowing you to log in on phones, tablets, or computers and take classes whenever you have time in your busy schedule. You’ll also be able to locate the nearest testing centers for the GED test. Learn more.

Free Language Classes

Whether it’s for travel, for work, or just for fun, UFCW’s Free Foreign Language Program offers members the ability to learn over 70 languages for free, exclusively online!

Seats will be available to each language course on a first-come, first-serve basis on a quarterly schedule. Members can apply for as many quarters as they’d like during the enrollment periods. Learn more and enroll today.

Scholarships

UFCW International Scholarship Program

The UFCW International Scholarship Program has distributed more than $2 million in scholarships since 1958. This scholarship is available for union members and their unmarried dependents under the age of 20. Scholarship amounts range up to $8,000 per recipient.

The UFCW International Scholarship Program is currently accepting applications for 2023! Applications are due May 14, 2023. Learn more here.

 

Irv R. String Local 152 Scholarship Fund

The Irv R. String Local 152 Scholarship Fund is our own local scholarship that we award to active members and their dependents. For an application and additional information, please contact the local at 1-888-564-6152.

The Irv R. String Local 152 Scholarship Fund is no longer accepting applications for 2023. Stay tuned for information about the 2024 scholarship.

 

Union Plus Scholarship Program

Since 1991, the Union Plus Scholarship Program has awarded more than $5.2 million to students of working families. Current members of UFCW and their families are all eligible to apply. Awarded scholarships range from $500 to $4,000.

The Union Plus Scholarship is no longer accepting applications for 2023. Check back soon for details about the 2024 scholarship.
