On Saturday, December 7, approximately one hundred members at Berks Foods in Reading, Pennsylvania stood united and ratified a new union contract!
The three-year contract illustrates many new improvements for our members at Berks Foods. This includes annual wage increases plus bracket increases, an annual longevity bonus, and maintaining affordable health and welfare benefits.
The committee successfully negotiated lower service lengths needed to accrue vacation days, guaranteeing more time off for members with fewer years of service. Furthermore, all members are now able to split at least one vacation week into single days, providing our members with a better work/life balance.
Finally, the new contract secures a bonus longevity personal day for members with more than ten years of service as well as longer funeral leave.
Congratulations to our members! We would also like to recognize our negotiating committee, who worked tirelessly to achieve a great contract. This included Executive Vice President Lisa Sanders, Executive Assistant to the President Danette Montes-Palmore, Union Representative Greg Torian, Shop Stewards Paul Covach and Chad Ruth, and member Dave Peppers.
