On Wednesday, October 5th, fish cutters and packers at Samuels and Son Seafood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ratified a new union contract!
With the implementation of the new contract, all members will receive an immediate wage increase and annual across-the-board increases. The three-year agreement also maintains affordable healthcare. Finally, the contract allows Shop Stewards time to meet with new employees for a “new member orientation.” During this time, Stewards will have an opportunity to formally introduce themselves and explain the union difference, including the collective bargaining agreement, the benefits of their contract, and the many other benefits and discounts available as a union member.
Congratulations to our members and the Negotiating Committee for a great contract! The committee included Director of Collective Bargaining Dan Ross, Union Representative Matte Kane, Chief Steward Ernest Dunmore, and Master Cutter Anthonio Fontanez.
