On Friday, October 30th, UFCW Local 152 members at Liberty Bell Steak Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania came together and voted to ratify a new contract!
Highlights
The five-year agreement has introduced many improvements for our hardworking members. First, members will receive wage increases each year for the life of the contract, in addition to a significant ratification bonus.
The Committee successfully bargained to have the Employer begin to match employee contributions into the savings plan! Liberty Bell Steak Company has now agreed to match monthly contributions on behalf of every member in the UFCW Local 152 Savings Plan on a tiered system, dependent on years of service. These additional contributions will undoubtedly help our members secure a safe and steady retirement. Way to go! Furthermore, every member now has access to prepaid legal services if they need it.
Finally, the agreement outlines exciting new language for Shop Stewards. Stewards at Liberty Bell can now attend one paid Steward Day per year, and can now meet with all new hires for up to thirty minutes to teach them about the union.

Congratulations to our members and the Negotiating Committee! This included Assistant Director of Collective Bargaining Lisa Sanders, Union Representative Greg Torian, Chief Shop Steward Fred Drayton, and Committeeperson Vincent Freeman. It’s certainly not easy to negotiate a contract during a pandemic, but our committee managed to practice safe social distancing during negotiations and the contract ratification process to accomplish this great win. Great job, everyone!
UFCW Local 152 proudly represents about thirty members at Liberty Bell Steak Company in Philadelphia, a company that “prides itself in offering the ‘The Real Authentic Philly Steak Sandwich meat,’” according to the company website. Products made by our great members are shipped nationally, allowing the whole country to enjoy a local staple: The Authentic Philly Cheesesteak!
