Meet the 2026 Winners of the Irv R. String Local 152 Scholarship Fund

Earlier this year, the Irv R. String Local 152 Scholarship Fund opened for members and their dependents to apply for a college scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year. This scholarship provides a $5,000 award, paid directly to the school.

After careful deliberation, the scholarship committee selected fourteen award winners — the most that have ever been chosen! Congratulations to all!

Winner Ashlyn Baker

ASHLYN BAKER

Ashlyn Baker is currently attending the University of Delaware. She wants to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Astronomy. Ashlyn also plans to work for NASA in the Astrobiology Department and advance in the field.

Ashlyn was involved in the National Honor Society, Drama Club, Upward Bound, Book Club, and Open Minds Club. She has volunteered with the Biggs Museum and the Delaware Food Bank.

Ashlyn’s father, Anthony Baker, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Kraft Heinz in Delaware.

Winner Tyler Brooks

TYLER BROOKS

Tyler Brooks will be attending Duquesne University. He is planning to study Jazz Performance to become a touring musician for bands and compose his own music.

Tyler was involved in the Upper Moreland High School Marching Unit and the Upper Moreland High School Jazz Band. He was also part of the National Honor Society. Tyler volunteers with Home at Last Dog Rescue and Upper Moreland Music Patrons.

Tyler’s father, Shon Brooks, is a UFCW Local 152 member and a Shop Steward at Acme Markets in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Winner Brianna Comiskey

BRIANNA COMISKEY

Brianna Comiskey is currently attending Kean University and is majoring in Business Administration. She plans on becoming a Chief Talent Officer or Head of Talent Acquisition and plans to run her own business in the future.

Brianna is currently part of Kean University Dance Club and has also been part of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and Alpha Beta Gamma Business National Honor Society. She also received the Presidential Award from 2023-2025.  

Brianna is currently a member of UFCW Local 152 at Saker ShopRite in Waretown, New Jersey.

Winner Japhet Delvalle

JAPHET DELVALLE

Japhet Delvalle will be attending Rowan University and is majoring in Computer Engineering.

He played varsity football for Vineland for four years and was also part of the National Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success. He also volunteered with football camps, snack shack, and wrestling at his school.

Japhet’s father, Joshua Rogers, is currently a UFCW Local 152 member at Hello High Dispensary in Hammonton, New Jersey.

Winner Emily Evans

EMILY EVANS

Emily Evans is currently attending The College of New Jersey and plans on becoming a licensed physical therapist.

She is involved in the PTOT Club, Catholic Campus Ministry, Colleges Against Cancer Club, TCNJam, and is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Emily volunteers at the Ewing Township Food Pantry and participates in community cleanup efforts at the local parks in Ewing. Additionally, she volunteered with Special Olympics events through her college.

Her mother, Theresa Evans, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional in Cape May Court House, New Jersey.

Winner Tyler Fox

TYLER FOX

Tyler Fox will be attending Rowan University and plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering to pursue a career in that field with Boeing or Lockheed Martin.

He was involved in Film Club, Robotics Team and National Society of High School Scholars. He has also volunteered at his church as the sound engineer, Red Cross blood drives, and Praise in the Park Music Festival.

Tyler and his mother, Andrea Fox, are both UFCW Local 152 members at Acme Markets in Seaville, New Jersey.

Winner Richie Gonzales

RICHIE GONZALES

Richie Gonzales will be attending Rutgers University, New Brunswick School of Engineering, where he plans to obtain a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering. He plans on opening his own engineering firm in the future.

He was a varsity athlete for four years in baseball and indoor track, and was also part of the National Honor Society and CCHS Leadership Coalition Representative. Richie volunteered at the concession stand, Reach program, and Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional.

Richie’s mother, Alena Gonzales, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional in Cape May Court House, New Jersey.

Winner Daniel Jones, III

DANIEL JONES, III

Daniel Jones, III is currently attending Moravian University, where he is majoring in Biology. His goal is to attend post-graduate school and get his doctorate. He plans on becoming a physician in sports medicine or a dermatologist.

Daniel is part of the Pre-Health Club, the Public Health Club, the Moravian Activities Council, and recently joined honors society Phi Eta Sigma.

Daniel’s father, Daniel Jones, Jr, is a UFCW Local 152 member and a Shop Steward at Johanna Foods in Flemington, New Jersey.

LUCAS KNAPPENBERGER

Lucas Knappenberger is currently attending Carnegie Mellon University, studying Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering to pursue a career as a Biomedical Engineer. Lucas plans on specializing in prosthetics to help people overcome physical injuries and disabilities.

Lucas is part of the Men’s Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track Team.

Lucas’s mother, Victoria Knappenberger, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Acme Markets in Horsham, Pennsylvania.

Winner Madison Lemon

MADISON LEMON

Madison Lemon is currently attending Stockton University, where she is pursuing a career in Dance with a concentration in Movement Science. She plans on having a career in the entertainment industry and in the field of Occupational Therapy.

Madison volunteers for many community and school events at the Cape May County Zoo, Oktoberfest at Kindle, and helping at the elementary schools for Beach Day and Field Day.

Madison is a UFCW Local 152 member at Acme Markets in Cape May Court House, NJ.

Winner Alexander McCormick

ALEXANDER MCCORMICK

Alexander McCormick plans on attending Stockton University, where he plans to study Math and Psychology.

In Ocean City High School, he was part of the Rowing/Crew, JSA/CLA and volleyball team. He has also volunteered in beach cleanup.

Alexander is a UFCW Local 152 member at Acme Markets in Ocean City, New Jersey.

SARAH NEVILLE

Sarah Neville is currently attending A.T. Still University Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health, where she is pursuing a Doctor of Dental Medicine.

Sarah participates in community outreach programs that bring dentistry to underserved populations. She also volunteers with Give Kids a Smile and Lessons in a Lunchbox, where she teaches children about oral health and hygiene. She is also actively involved in Delta Sigma Delta and Christian Medical & Dental Association.

Sarah’s father, William Brunt, Jr., is a UFCW Local 152 member and Shop Steward at the Borough of Highlands in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

LILY ROBERT

Lily Robert currently attends Rutgers – New Brunswick, where she pursues a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting and a minor in Art History. She plans on becoming a high school art teacher and hopes to open a community art center.

Lily is part of the Outdoors Club, Glamour Gals, Phi Sigma Pi honors fraternity, and Tau Sigma honors society.

Lily’s mother, Katherine Robert, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Acme Markets in Seaville, New Jersey.

Winner Lisa Thomas

LISA THOMAS

Lisa Thomas is currently attending Penn State University in Harrisburg, PA, and is part of the Master of Arts Clinical Psychology program. After earning her degree, she plans on obtaining a PhD in clinical psychology. Her goal is to become a forensic psychologist specializing in youth and become part of the FBI.

She is an inducted member of the international Psi Chi Honor Society of Psychology at Penn State Abington and an inducted member of the National Society of Leadership and Success at Penn State Abington.

Lisa’s mother, Hong Hua, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Dietz and Watson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
