On Monday, December 20th, UFCW Local 152 members at the ShopRites in Drexeline, PA and Brookhaven, PA overwhelmingly voted to accept a new union contract!
The four-year agreement will introduce many new improvements for the members. All members at top of scale received retroactive across-the-board wage increases and additional increases each year for the life of the contract. Classified positions received substantial market adjustments to their hourly wage rate and members on the night crew will receive an additional $1.00/hour above their rate.
All eligible full-time employees will receive significant yearly increases in their 401K plans, giving members more money to use in their retirement.
Shop Stewards or Union Representatives will now have the opportunity to conduct a new member orientation. Many people have never worked in a union position before, so this orientation is crucially important to teach new members about the union difference; they will have time to learn about their rights as a union member, benefits like member discounts, and simply strengthen their connection to UFCW Local 152. And finally, our members will now have the opportunity to participate in supplemental benefit programs offered by the Local.
Congratulations to our members and our wonderful Negotiating Committee, including Director of Collective Bargaining Dan Ross, Union Representative Ed Fuller, and Shop Stewards Mike Didonato and Edwin Santiago. Great job!
UFCW Local 152 proudly represents nearly 300 members between these two stores. Since the 1940s, ShopRite “has grown into the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States,” according to the company’s website. Our UFCW Local 152 members are front and center of the business, working hard despite treacherous weather, holidays, and even a global pandemic.
