LATEST UPDATE
Update 3: April 23
Congratulations!
On Tuesday, April 22nd, Aspen Hills and Buttonwood agreed to voluntarily recognize your Union!
The petition you signed to be represented by Local 152 was confidentially reviewed by an independent third-party mediator. The review confirmed that a majority of employees wished to be represented by Local 152 for the purpose of collective bargaining.
“The bargaining unit shall consist of:
All full-time, regular part-time, and per diem Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Psychiatric Aides, Activity Aides, Recreation, Housekeeping, Laundry, Maintenance, Unit Clerk, Receptionist and Dining Service workers.”
“Voluntarily recognizing a union starts the collective bargaining relationship on a positive note. It streamlines the process for beginning negotiations on wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.” — Source: US Department of Labor
Next Steps
In the coming weeks, Local 152 will coordinate contract proposal surveys and discuss forming a worker committee to participate in the negotiations process. We will continue to communicate these developments via text message.
Congratulations again on this crucial milestone! Your hard work is paying off, and you are one step closer to being union members!
When workers stand together, we win!

Update 2: April 14
Demand for Recognition Letter Sent
Because of the overwhelming support, President Daniel Ross, Jr. sent a certified letter requesting recognition of your union.
A “demand for recognition” sends a clear message that an overwhelming majority of workers desire to form your union.
The law allows facilities to voluntarily recognize your right to form your union. Doing so would show a sign of good faith and focus resources toward preparing to negotiate our first contract in a much timelier manner.
We eagerly await the company’s response. As information becomes available, we will use this webpage to update you.
In the meantime, stay strong and united!
