Michael Thompson

VP/Director of Organizing

Mike Thompson has been a proud member of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) since 1987, where he began his journey as a rank-and-file worker. It was during this time that his passion for helping to serve his union brothers and sisters began to take root. He saw firsthand the challenges that workers faced in the workplace, and he was determined to make a difference.

As he gained experience and knowledge, Mike was eventually elected as a union steward, where he continued to fight for the rights of workers and to improve working conditions. He was known for his tenacity and his commitment to his fellow union members.

In 2009, Mike took his commitment to the next level by becoming a union representative for the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 152. Through his hard work and dedication, he has become a respected leader in the labor movement, and a tireless advocate for the rights of workers everywhere. Whether he is representing UFCW members at the bargaining table, or organizing workers in the community, Mike’s passion and commitment to the labor movement serve as an inspiration to all who know him.

In his current role as the Director of Organizing, Mike oversees all of the union’s organizing activities, working with organizers on the ground to help workers form unions, negotiate contracts, and win important workplace benefits.

Mike’s passion for organizing and helping workers stems from his belief that every worker deserves a fair and just workplace. He has seen firsthand the struggles that workers face when trying to organize and fight for their rights. But he also knows that, with the proper support and resources, workers can achieve significant victories that can transform their lives.

Today, he also serves on UFCW Local 152’s Executive Board, helping make fundamental decisions on behalf of the local.
