What is a SPUR?
A Special Projects Union Representative (“SPUR”) is a UFCW Local 152 member who will help with union-related activities for a set period of time, anywhere between four weeks to six months.
Becoming a SPUR allows you to perform unique tasks for the union. In this paid position, you can look forward to developing skills by performing meaningful, satisfying work and making a difference in the lives of working people. You can expect to work various hours and days, and possibly travel out of state — whenever and wherever, as needed.

Examples of work SPURs perform include:
- Working on a specific organizing program making home calls, doing research, hand billing, and educating workers about the benefits of union membership
- Attending rallies and other union actions
- Following up on organizing leads at non-union stores and facilities
- Attending union and organizing meetings
- Work pertaining to representation and membership services
After a brief training, SPURs will take a temporary leave of absence from their current union position and return to work at the end of their assignment. There will be no change to seniority, rates of pay, benefits, or position.
Motivated, passionate members of UFCW Local 152 are encouraged to apply!
